Self-compassion
Self-compassion means treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a loved one who is struggling. It’s the practice of noticing your pain without judgment, acknowledging your humanness, and gently reminding yourself that you are worthy of care—even when things feel messy or difficult.
Many of us are quick to criticize ourselves or push through pain in silence. But research shows that cultivating self-compassion can improve emotional resilience, reduce anxiety and depression, and foster a more balanced relationship with ourselves. This page offers insights, tools, and practices to help you build self-compassion—not as a quick fix, but as a lifelong, supportive mindset. Wherever you are in your journey, this is a place to start softening toward yourself.
Linked below are exercises developed by Kristen Neff that can help you discover how to treat yourself with compassion when you are having a tough time, fail, or notice something you don’t like about yourself.
